"Clothes Maketh The Man"

Cut the crap short, photos!

Love, Bonito Rachelle Romper in Black (L)

Set my eyes on it when I saw the preview. First tweed item for me! The PTP ended up a little loose and didn't hug my waist as ideally as I wanted it to be. Wanted to exchange for M but was worried that the rise for size M may be too short for me so I kept it! My mum helped to tighten the PTP a lil' by sewing the hook at the zip a little 'nearer' so when I hook it, it becomes 'tighter' all around. (Which only helped a little, T.T) I hope you get what I am saying. Haha! A lovely piece to own, love the small colourful details!

Love, Bonito Lisbeth Dress in Navy Blue (L), Love, Bonito Taffie Top in Black (L) and F21 Floral Print skirt (L)

Pretty pretty Lisbeth Dress! Reviewed the one in White earlier on and love this Navy Blue number too! Also a little loose for me. Hai, I hate being in-between sizes. Still thinking whether to let it go! I wore it for a buffet and it was still very comfortable after that meal. Hahaha!

The Taffie Top is such a good basic. I like this more than the Mango scoopneck basics that I own. Wish LB would launch in more colours like Mint, Lavender, Sunshine or Periwinkle. Would totally get all! At a rather pocket-friendly price of $19.

Love, Bonito Brixton Dress in Green (M)

After the experience buying Davenport Dress in Crimson (L) which I should have listened to the reviewers to size down, I did so for this piece! M fits me perfectly! Material is exactly the same as their Brique Blazer in Green.

Which reminds me, need to sell the Davenport Dress LOL.

Dress bought in Bangkok!

Mesh dress bought from Bangkok! Totally love this kind of dresses!

Love, Bonito Hilary Top in Dark Periwinkle (L), Mustard weaved belt from Taiwan and Zara high-waisted shorts in Black (M)
Hardly buy sleeveless tank tops because of my fat arms but I love this preppy look. The top is really comfortable with its material but I noticed when I put it to soak, after 4 hours later the water was so blueeeeeeee! Be careful not to mix this top with light colours! After drying, the colour of the top still looks bright so it's okay. Hee.

Dresses Galore

Need to clear my outfit debts. This is becoming more of a fashion blog than anything else. :S

Love, Bonito Lisbeth Dress in White (L)
Having a strong strong strong penchant for white dresses nowadays. This is a nice classic piece which I can put on without much thinking! Only strength and weakness for this dress is the non-lined lace part at the back which is really pretty but only nude bras should be worn, in my humble opinion. :)

Love, Bonito Philippa Dress in Forest (L), H&M weaved belt in Nude and Covet Love, Bonito Dexter Dress in Cream (L)

The Philippa Dress is another lazy dress for me! Just slip it on and go! L size is a little too loose for me but I love the comfort of it hence got too lazy to exchange. Might be letting it go.

The Dexter Dress is a purchase by my sister (yes, we are both rather big-sized :S) and the colour is love. I'm a sucker for black and nude pieces that are fuss-free. The embellishments sewn onto the piece are quite secure and can withstand machine-washing! :D

Covet Love, Bonito Valentine Dress in Dark Nude (L)

If this is meant to be worn oversized, then I have purchased the right size as it is really quite loose on me! It hangs around my waist like I can hide another tummy inside. Still keeping it because I love the crochet details a lot and for future weight-gaining. Haha. Love the inner piece that comes with it as well, very good quality but of course, a hefty price tag at $49.

Uniqlo T-shirt in Black (M) and New Look shorts in UK12

Don't you just love the colours of the shorts? 'Nuff said. :)

Outfit Post!

Hello, it's been a while! And suddenly it's my birthday month already! Looks like we are all going in Malacca for my birthday! I do seriously need a break from work and the overcrowded Singapore to bask in the sun and comfort of my sister's home in that quaint little town. Craving for the assam fish already! Here's how it looks like:

You jelly? The infamous (in my terms, of course) Assam Fish!!!

Okay, I'll start to share some outfit posts now. It's been awhile. :S

Love, Bonito Hollace Tee in White (L) and Love, Bonito Scheller Skirt in Blue (L)

The Hollace Tee calls for a good staple in the wardrobe! It's slightly loose for me but the textured fabric is quite special! Will be letting this go since I still have the yellow piece! Yet to wear it though, :S

The Scheller Skirt is loose-fitting on me. Either I've lost weight or LB isn't being consistent with its sizing. The prints don't appeal to me as much as I thought I would. Sold this piece away already! :)

Love, Bonito Kieran Knit Top in Lavender, Love, Bonito Tiffany Tube in White (L) (worn as inner piece) and F21 Floral Dainty Rose Shorts

Love love love the colour of the Kieran Knit Top. Was in a mad craze for the colour lavender and totally didn't regret the purchase! Got it in Jade too! :)

The Tiffany tube is a good staple to have as inner wear.
Love, Bonito Theirra Throwover in Malachite (L) and The Velvet Dolls Basic Petticoat in White

This throwover is a darling! I love anything green and turquoise hence it was a must-get for me. Wasn't a sold-out item hence I guess not much people like layering?

TVD's petticoat is a star-buy at $14. I got it in Black too. They are really good for matching with oversized tops or as inner wear! You can still email them if you want to purchase them.

Love, Bonito Just V-neck Tee in Mint (L)

Falling in love with patched pocket tees and yes, Mint was an attractive colour for me. :) Shirt is long and material was of absolute comfort! It's still available on the website!

I've got more outfits coming up! :D

Weekdays Outfits

Feeling lonely at work because my partner has gone on leave. GOLD COASTTTT, babeh! Nevertheless, tried to cheer myself up with new clothes heeee.

Amber Avenue Eyelet Pleated Dress in Creme

This dress is.. really thick. I think it added another inch to my waist. The lining is crazily thick and at some point during the day, I felt rather warm in it. The eyelet details are intricately done but they do feel a little scratchy. Well, I don't think I can complain much about it since I got it from the flash sale at $17.50, or was it $17.90? Can't remember. Have to use the sash though, if not it would be utterly shapeless.

Padini black chiffon top, Zara Basic Spaghetti top in Black, H&M weaved belt in Neon Yellow, Uniqlo Ankle Length Slim-cut Pants in Black, Nine West Barbe Pumps in Dark Bronze and Love, Bonito Brique Blazer in Green

Yes, I chose an all-black outfit to match the blazer again. I can't say anything more about the colours. Really, really adore the splash of colours. My Uniqlo pants is really too loose now. I prefer my pants to be tight-fitting and well-cut. :(

Looking forward to another weekend full of love! :D

We Do Fights Too

Phew. I wanted a restful weekend but Saturday ended up with a huge fight with Tex that escalated out of nowhere. Thinking back, I could have the ability to stop it from evolving into a huge fight but it continues to baffle me why I didn't stop it in time. Anger and rashness blinded me big time!

Don't want to talk more about the fight because I only now seek to move on and to fight healthier. We were both at fault and we said our sorries but other than to learn from mistakes, it's also important to know how to move on. I love you, Tex. We fight because we care. The intention is never to hurt, remember that.

Short impromptu date time with Tex last night is L O V E. Clearly couldn't take our hands off each other. Okay, the healthy kind okay! 想到哪裏去?!

Date night after his soccer training. Wanted to head over to One Rochester to check out the venue for our wedding but decided not to spend money. Hahaha! We are that lazy sometimes and we must be the most impromptu couple ever. Mad love my outfit and the colour. I'm recently very into lavender. =/

Love Bonito Mathilde Midi in Lavender, Nine West peep-toe heels in Cream & H&M weaved belt in Cream

Initially wanted to take a bus to Golden Mile to satiate our Thai food craving but we thought of the return home journey as tumultuous so we decided to just drop at Vivocity Kopitiam for shit thai food dinner. #epicfail

Attempts at fine art shots =P

Supposed to spend the Saturday at his house for our couch potato date watching Blue Valentine starring Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams. We ended up fighting like Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams in the film. Only more tears and mucus. :(

H&M 'I Prefer The Drummer' Tank, Love Bonito Tiffany Tube in Fuchsia (worn as inner wear) & Her Velvet Vase Moxie Floral Denim Shorts in Dark Blue/Pink Floral

Bought the tank because Tex is a drummer?! Stupid, I know. Waste money, I know. But don't most girls buy into this kinda hype? Like couple wear, couple rings, couple bracelets, couple slippers, couple iPhone cases, couple yada yada. Only I like to differentiate a bit more. I can proclaim my love public yet succinctly. Awesome eh?

The shorts is mad comfy! Got in it Light Blue/Pink Floral as well. Intending to sell this pair cos I prefer the other colour more. Selling at $23 mailed worn once (size L)! Email me at blackocea@hotmail.com!

In case you haven't seen me before or in a long time, here's a myriad of expressions that I am capable of.

Erm, yup. >.<

So the Sunday after our fight, he came over to my place to pick up where we left. No, not to continue fighting, but to continue watching the movie. -___-

And in return, I made lunch. Look Ma, aren't you proud of me? Okay to be fair, my Mom prepared the ingredients and all I had to do was to cook/steam them. =)

I'll make an awesome housewife, no? Successkid.jpg

Okay, work time now. Sssssh.

Wedding Research

I decided that I should track my wedding homework here to commemorate, err, my wedding? Haha. The bigger thing should be my marriage. :P

I have some ideas in mind but brides-to-be are normally very selfish and I don't intend to deviate from that. ;) Only when what's been done for their weddings, then they share.

But I'll share something really cute and awesome. Like this.

I want a rainbow rose too.

Isn't this a most beautiful sight? I'm sharing this because I'm not having rainbow roses at my wedding. Not financially possible anyway. Hahaha!

(Fine, not that I have many readers too. Pfft.)

But I should be focussing on our Europe preparation. Damn. We're only two months away.

On a very happy note, Tex got really mushy yesterday.

Awwwwww.

Well, this is not THE proposal, but awwww. Isn't it nice to have your fiance proposing to you again and again? Must be heartfelt one, lah.

Her Velvet Vase Hollywood Glamour Dress in White (duh!), Love, Bonito Brique Blazer in Green & H&M weaved belt in Neon Yellow

Love the HVV dress. It's so stretchy and hugs my curves (and my tummy so I had to walk around sucking it in the whole day but I bet occasionally I let it go and someone had to see my fat tummy. To those people, sorry! :P) and most importantly, the LB Brique Blazer matches it. I need more white dresses to match it. Damn it.

Downsized to M because I like my blazers fitting.

It's a wonderful print. WON-DER-FUL. Tex said it's too much but what do guys know? My $7.90 neon yellow belt from H&M is an awesome buy!

Zara Basic tank top in White, Love, Bonito Merill Pencil Skirt in Malachite, Zara Basic cardigan in Black, H&M weaved belt in Cream & Nine West Barbe pumps in Light Natural Leather

Mad love my cream belt. Another $7.90 score! Been putting the LB skirt up on sale but I mad love the colour so I've been wearing it. So sad that my Nine West heels are giving way. The leather for the insoles are starting to flake and the stitching is coming off. Hai. Such a classic design and the shoes wrap my feet in such a sexy way and the sharpness of the heels is just nice - not too 'long' and not too 'short'. Still wearing it like crazy anyway!

Till the next!

(Okay, so my title has nothing to do with the content of this post. Bahahaha!)

What Do You Want To Be Known For When You Are Dead?

The answers to the above questions may very likely be the goals that you have been trying to achieve thus far. Just imagine that you had a cardiac arrest and are suddenly dead. What do you want the newspapers to be writing about you? Be very honest.

Here's mine:

"She was a filial daughter and she would bring her parents overseas often for holidays," says her neighbours.
"She was a loving girlfriend and they had plans to get married next year," says her friend.
"She was a resilient woman when her fiance had to be apart from her for years," says her best friend.
"She was a loyal friend, always ready to help," says her best friend.
"She was a good co-worker and often brought joy to the office," says her colleague.
"She was the most adventurous person in our family and often brought us happiness," says her sister.
"Her passion for travelling ignited ours too and it's a shame that she couldn't live to see it," says her mother.
"Their love for each other is very understated and inspiring to all couples who are going through long-distance relationships and facing tough challenges in maintaining passion," says her best friend.

Hmmmm. Wow I'm surprised as what came to my mind. I need to think of who might attend my funeral next.

Happy Monday to all! :)

Girl Y

I know of someone who is the kind that makes people feel uncomfortable the moment they open their mouth and speak. All they need to do is say 'hi' and they make or break a conversation.

This girl, let's call her Y. Met her at a neighbourhood ice cream shop when I was with Pei Juan and Steph when we locked eyes and I gave a (what I thought was very welcoming) wave and "Hi! Fancy meeting you here!". Right after this moment, I noticed her bulging stomach. Five months perhaps.

Response I got: "Hi." (Hasty, quick voice)
"Do I know you?" (She obviously does but trying to be cheeky)

I smiled and said, "It's fine then." That was my cue for the end of conversation. She sat down by the next table and said loudly across to me, "So how many kids you have now?"

That must be my cue for leaving. I looked Pei Juan and she shot me a dirty look. I scooped up my last two big mouthfuls of Earl Grey ice cream and unanimously, three of us (Pei Juan, Steph and myself) all stood up and we were preparing to leave.

"None. I'm not married."
"Har?! I thought you were married?"
"Nope."
"Where do you work now? As what? At where? What you doing here?"
"Work at Changi. What are you doing here?"
"I stay here what. You don't know meh?" (Serangoon Gardens what.)
"Do I know you?" I quipped.

Time to leave. This is one acquaintance I'd never ever want to meet again.

20 Fun Facts about Melvina

Yes you.

Let me tell you more things about me that you might not know.

1) I like to list things down in sequential numbers. It keeps me organised.
2) I like to receive gifts. Not because of their monetary value, but it shows that you thought of me. Or for a fleeting moment, I existed in your mind. That's nice.
3) I love to read. Letters, emails, messages, photographs. I wish you wrote more and talked less. These allow me to revisit them whenever I remember to because I have a really lousy memory.
4) My future exists in my mind in many colours and they normally have a rainbow hanging over a bright blue sky and the air temperature would be a perfect 24 degrees Celsius.
5) My future contains you.
6) I like to listen to nitty gritty things that happened. Like how you struggled with your last piece of toilet paper or had a hard time picking out that slice of veg in between your teeth. Unimportant stuff like that gives me a more wholesome picture of how we can fit in. Not just sombre and serious things that occurred.
7) I love spending family time with you in it. I would be so so so happy if you could come for any occasion that I invite you to. You can compare that feeling to finding a last piece of jigsaw to fill in the puzzle. (YES!!!!)
8) I like things in a myriad of colours. If I have red, I must have it in yellow, green, blue, lavender, pink..
9) I abhor it when you mention the words 'break up'. You used it too much for me to feel sad about the real break-up. When I hear it now, I feel sad for myself instead of for us. Unhealthy. Need to erase this memory of you.
10) I am a social media freak. I used to blog a lot. It's just that now I changed platforms, I tweet and instragram a lot. I wish you responded to me on those platforms to be in sync with me instead of doing what you do best - talk.
11) I think you are weird but I don't think any less of you. It's even quite cute actually.
12) I like to stalk things or websites that I like or hate. Like every other minute. So it's not just you. It's ASOS, Forever21 and other as well. Relax.
13) I crave for attention. The less I have, the more I want. The more I get, the less I ask.
14) I HATE IT WHEN YOU NO ENOUGH CASH IN WALLET! Pet peeve.
15) I want turquoise in my room.
16) I decide the bedsheets.
17) I decide the towels.
18) I love men's shower foams. I love anything that smells surgically clean.
19) I dig my nose and stick them under the table.
20) Stop calling me your 'wife'. People don't break up with their wives like you do.

Okay! Now I can go make my second cup of coffee. On a rollllllllllll..

So What Changed?

I had wanted to blog about my happy weekend but before I could even finish it (during my course of work, no less), something else superceded it.

Today, I am going to analyse how much I have changed from 2007, till now.

Tex says he don't know who I am anymore. Well, not just him. Sometimes I don't know who I am anymore.

1) Self-doubt
I used to give answers all the time. At least I thought I was being right in many areas that I was involved in. Now I ask questions seeking for approval, even though innately I think my answers are 'right'. For eg, "Do you think this is nice?", "Do you think I will succeed?" and other irritating questions like that.

2) Listen more, talk less
While some may disagree that I am a listener now, I do think that I have listened better than I was as a person in 2007. Listening is not just hearing. It also encompasses empathy, acknowledgement and discernance. I like to think that I have become better at empathising. You think so? (Okay, just by those last three words, I have accurately demonstrated a perfect example of point number One.)

3) Waning confidence
Starting my first job was a humbling experience. You may be good at schoolwork but that doesn't mean you will excel in your work. I have mellowed tremendously and am no longer full of myself. As a result, my confidence went down. For better, it made me a more humble person. For worse, I started having doubts about myself as an individual being.

4) Making decisions
I find myself choosing things that Tex think I would like, instead what I think I would like. In my mind, I want Simon Garfunkel soup. Tex suggests Tokyo Chicken Stew? Self-convincing and mind-fucking starts this very moment - "Ehhhh, maybe I like Tokyo Chicken Stew too." Yep, it is that fucking crazy. Where is my stand? Where is "NO I WANT SIMON GARFUNKEL 367 CALORIES SOUP. NOT THAT 197 CALORIES SHIT." Poof, out the window.

5) Being firm
2007: I want this.
2012: I think I want this.
'Nuff said.

Can't think of anything except the wonderful salad I have made for myself for lunch. Till then, I am going to start making a difference to my own life, by saying less of 'I think' and stop asking 'Right?'. I don't need anyone's affirmation or approval really. I should have the perfect ability of making myself feel better. If not, how did those years when I was single come about wtf?

It's a start anyway. :)
