My Relationship With OTS

My Relationship With OTS

It seems only just yesterday when I was enjoying my favourite 卤肉 (stewed pork) from Serangoon Gardens and that was last Friday. So now, it's been a week. So fast!

Last night, during our daily routinal chatting on the phone, OTS and I agreed that it feels like we've been only together for six months although we are going to have our second anniversary soon. Hmm, he consents to the idea of me planning how to spend the day this time round! (Note: it's more of 'spending the day', not 'celebrating')

Sometimes I think I'm conservative. Many times I do not like to 'promise' things I might not be able to accomplish. Some examples are what I will do for my parents lah, where will I bring them to enjoy their golden age lah, or even telling my relatives about OTS and my expectations of my life lah. Hmm, I always thought time will tell us everything, so why promise? Besides, I'm afraid to make promises I could not afford to keep.

Almost two years. Almost two years since my last break-up too. Haha. That was one of the 转捩点 for me when I realised sometimes, nothing in this world is definite. An old cliche saying goes 'the only constant in this world, is change'. That is so right. I don't believe in 'forever'. I think it's plain bullshit. No one lives long enough to see for himself when the fuck is forever coming or ending. You can say that I am a skeptic, but I have every reason to be. I guess, that is the only way to protect myself sometimes.

And that is so difficult for OTS. I think he had a pretty hard time trying to break down my 'walls' and open up to him. I am not someone who readily share my opinions and think about my actions. I act, I forget. I used to make very casual remarks, be very careless with my words and not mean them at all. I was funny, but I was not credible. That was something I didn't like, but also didn't know how to change. And he did it for me.

He said, "It's so weird, you know. Everyday I come back to my room, I dial this number, and the person on the other end of the line just talks and talks. I feel like I'm calling some operator and she's acting my girlfriend. Like, you know, a service you pay for and there's this person who can act like your girlfriend and be your regular customer service officer. It feels like I'm calling a self-help line every night."

This is the kind of relationship we are leading. I'm pretty comfortable with it now, because when this started, we had no idea what it was going to be like. All we had was a couple of discouragements and many voices telling us that this might not work. 初生之犊不怕虎. A young calf will not be afraid of tigers because they had little or no experience. But hey, it turned out to be not as bad as we thought or expected, so baby, I thank you for not giving up.

Everytime we meet, it is like a giant dating thing. Hence so far, we have gone on... 5 huge dates? Haha, the sixth one is coming in November and people ask 'Wow you are flying over to meet your boyfriend ah?'. Normally I will answer 'No lah, just going over for a holiday and my parents are coming with me as well' because.. it's just weird to answer yes to meeting your boyfriend, flying thousands of miles across oceans. Yes, the conservative me is speaking.

But this time round, I must not be careless with my words! I think it's time to recognise the fact that:

Yes, I am flying over to meet my boyfriend for our sixth date because if not for him, I wouldn't even have chosen to go to Australia.

Tsk

If my whole life is just about my boyfriend, I think I would have been dumped quite a long time ago.

My boyfriend is pretty chauvinistic. Luckily I am quite womanistic too.

Yay! Half the pain is over, 2 more papers to go. I can't wait for my sister to come back from her honeymoon in Europe -- I need her luggage! =P

Looking at the Twitter updates, I realised it's been 99 days since I found out that my sister is pregnant. And now her stomach is like a honeydew under wraps. Hah!

Never Judge A Book By Its Cover

Never Judge A Book By Its Cover

Oh, so now I know my neighbour is a singer (with her band) at Ben & Jerry's Cathay and Hard Rock Cafe.

Weird. For many years, I always thought she was a maid.

I Have Damn A Lot Of Questions

I Have Damn A Lot Of Questions

When Lehman Brothers fell, many investors lost their money. So where did all these money go?

Transport operators passed on their increased costs of operating the transport system to consumers by increasing fares, and they promised to improve their service quality (which in turn led to more price hikes). So when these operators are fined by Public Transport Council (PTC) for failing to meet the service standards, how come these fines aren't returned to the consumers? It was our money in the first place, no? Why the council take ah? So they take the money, then further improve standard, then increase fare, then fine them, then take the money, then further further improve standard, then increase fare, then fine them, then take the money..

Why do some girls with long hair just refuse to tie up their hair when it's so goddamn fucking hot?! Long hair with perspiration on your fringe and forehead very pretty meh?

Okay I have more, but just ponder over these first okay and let me know your answers. Bye!

Yet Another Overdue Birthday Post

Yet Another Overdue Birthday Post

The birthday boy chooses the location. In this case, Gabriel chose Timbre, a open-aired pub/bar/restaurant located near the old national library when an old hawker centre, now demolished, used to stand.

Our drinks for the night! I had a Lychee Freeze, Anthea's was Mango Margarita, Jocelyn and Clement shared this really nice drink called Mary-something, Gabriel and Tzyy Horng has Erdinger beer which turned out really nice and mild and Sze Ling has this weird drink called Caprinihia which contained brown sugar (does not look brown to me at all).

They ordered two pizzas! One was Roasted Duck and the other Seafood Capsicum. I personally liked the seafood one better because it was more chewy as compared to the duck one.

I think all these was taken during our very very very long 2-hours queue. I wonder how I managed to stand for so long.

Gab with me, Sze Ling and Anthea.

With Clement, Jocelyn and Tzyy Horng.

You might notice that this was dated differently from the first scrap. That's because.. I got the date wrong. Haha! It was supposed to be 19th. Hurhur.

I am so looking forward to the Land of Kangeroos but before that, there's exams. Sighs.

Why Do You Get Into A Relationship?

Why Do You Get Into A Relationship?

Something got me thinking. Why do people get into relationships? Humans are born as individuals with their own set of organs and brains, but why do they get into relationships? Technically, there's nothing tangible that one gets out of it, just sometimes if you're lucky, a baby maybe?

Is it like online shopping? You buy clothes, thinking that you might look good in it, but when it finally arrives your doorstep and you happily wear it, you realise that the piece did not look as nice and fits as snug as you thought it would be, when you first saw it appear on the website.

Then you 勉强 wear it, knowing that it's not that nice but just can't bear to throw it away? Or you chuck it away immediately and never want to wear it again?

Is it like that? Relationships are like clothes? Hopefully there will be fitting rooms somewhere where you can try the clothes and not buy them if you don't like it. That is highly unlikely. No one likes to be treated like clothes. 兄弟如手足,女人如衣服?

Or maybe relationships are as realistic as online shopping. You view it, buy it, try it. If it fits, you are goddamn lucky. If it doesn't, you either chuck it away or force yourself to wear it (which I see many friends doing it because they don't have the balls to chuck it or they don't even realise they 'don't look good in it').

Sometimes life has no time for second chances. Your best bet could be doing enough researching before buying that perfect piece. Then again, we see many Singaporeans doing that and what happens?

The damn bloody perfect piece goes OUT OF STOCK.

No More Mambo

No More Mambo

I am not going to anymore Mambo sessions from now on. It is really not my type. I'm sorry but as much as I tried, I couldn't keep up with the not-too-fast-yet-not-too-slow tempo of not-so-old-yet-not-so-new songs.

Let's just say, now that I have free and priority entry to Zouk and Phuture, why still Mambo on Wednesdays?!

I'm Going Clubbing Tomorrow

I'm Going Clubbing Tomorrow

And I feel like wearing shorts. I wonder why they do not allow slippers? If it's all about the 'let your hair down' thing so it means being comfortable in your own skin, right? Thing is, I am very comfortable in my infamous SSS -- shirt, shorts and slippers.

I guess the clubbing scenes are for more socialising and you wanna look good when you actually socialise so that you can be spotted as a socialite! *shrugs*

I'm there because of the company. Will be equally happy if we are to meet at some lousy prata shop like The Roti Prata House @ Upper Thomson Road. I've been a customer of theirs since I was in primary school so I think I am adequately a fair critic. If I have a choice, I wouldn't patron them again. If I don't have a choice, I wouldn't patron them again too. I would rather eat my chao ta bao.

I'm sorry, but I think their standards have seriously plummeted like crazy. It can be compared to Aussie dollars. I waited for half an hour for my cheese prata, only to get a cold one. Gan dulan.

Orh orh time. Byebye.

Chao Ta Bao

Chao Ta Bao

I can't believe I microwaved a kong bak bao chao ta! To the extent when I pierced a knife through it, it was so hard it cracked-split into perfect halves. And the core was just totally black.

I banged it against my sink and it gave out loud thump-thump sounds. I ran water on it and it sizzled loudly. I turned it over and realised it had a mini explosion on its surface.

The insides of my microwave turned very yellow and I just cleaned it. My whole house now smells like it's on fire and my hand smells like it's burnt.

All the fault of a chao ta bao.

I miss my boyfriend so now I going out for supper with my part-time boyfriend. The one whose house was the place my boyfriend fell in love with me. -____-

Love my boyfriend. No (s).
