Hello! I haven't been updating because.. there is nothing to update? I have little interesting things to share except my past glory where I have been buying a lot more than recently? Feeling the manpower crunch in my back account so have been trying my best to hold back!
However, I would really like to do more travelogues for my previous trips like Perth, Hanoi, Taiwan, Boracay and even Korea (hopefully). This will go wayyyyy back into 2005 because I like to revisit memories.
Also, I would like to congratulate Tex on getting full marks on his first lab exam (report?) after almost three years of hiatus from school! Looks like school has been treating you really well! I encourage you to do the same for your quitting of smoking, hokay? :)
Happy to report that we are entering June soon and I can't wait for July to arrive.
Okay, back to the daily grind.

After-Party
After all our families and friends left the brunch, Tex and I adjourned to our staycation for the night - Swissotel!
Thanks to Clement, we got an awesome deal to commemorate such a special day!
Absolute big love to all my friends who showed up!
Anyway, it was Wee Kian who was our matchmaker!
No party is completed without some sabo-ing, which I think Tex was happy to oblige.
With so many photos of myself, I almost thought it was MY solo solemnisation instead of ours, haha. Tex was busy being a chimney.
I was really happy that night with most of my friends around and I am so glad Tex became fast friends with them! While during a large part of my relationship Tex was overseas, he never really had a chance to meet them and got to know them. Whenever he was back, we would only think about spending time together rather than meeting our friends. Hence, this was absolutely a wonderful night to remember!
Okay, off to the airport I go to fetch my parents! Hope to blog more and FASTER!

By the time we checked in, we were dead beat! Tex fell asleep even before taking a shower! I doodled around more before eventually succumbing to the snoozy monster.
When I woke up, Tex was still sleeping hence I went downstairs to Raffles City to tabao dinner! After staying off carbs for months, the first meal I had was Korean cuisine! Something about having hot food in a hotel room is very satisfying. Am I the only one who thinks like that?
Got ready to meet our friends at New Asia Bar - the highest-levelled bar in Singapore!

Marriage Cannot be a Prison
I find myself really drawn to inspirational marriages and reading articles like this one that I am going to share, helps me keep my own in check constantly. :)
Hope this type of marriage inspires you to maintain your own (if it's your cup of tea). I know some couples who are on entirely a different frequency on outlook of marriages, especially on independence, but who's to say they're wrong? It's about knowing what you want and going forward to create and maintain that.
Only in my twenties did I realise that self-understanding is a big step to starting anything, anything that you want in life.
Take time to do that. :)

Progress
Would you agree if someone says that a couple has to do things together to achieve progress in their relationship?
I've always been a believer of "alternatives". It is quite consistent for me to find ways other than the conventional way to think, to do or to say. I am a strong believer (or a naive believer, some might say) that a couple can also progress in their relationship separately, on a good mix of individuality and being apart. And I guess that's why Tex and I are pretty good at this LDR thing.
But lately, I've started to notice changes within myself. In the past, I didn't use to bother myself that much about how little Tex and I were sharing in common in terms of activities. I thought we were different from others so there was no point in comparing. Others didn't know what we were going through hence there was no reason to compare and make them understand anyway.
However, after a slew of fights and quarrels last year, we realised that we weren't that different from others. Like any other couple, we needed couple time and intimacy and more importantly, a series of activities for us to enjoy together.
Because being married encompasses many daily lifestyle habits to incorporate into each other's lives. Because being married means that after a quarrel or a fight, both of you still return to the same home every day. Because being married does not mean you get to return to your own single bed and ignore calls that night. Because being married means needing the ability to iron things out and not sweep it under the carpet. Being married requires your compassion, endurance and even big big love to embrace changes about you and your partner.
So, I surprised myself. So, I do get envious when I see other couples doing their couple-y activities together. Aaaah, so that's how it feels? The want and urge to do something with your other half? And of late, the feeling has become stronger and stronger. I feel that my time is on a standstill when Tex is not here with me and only when he is back here physically with me or when I see him again, my time starts moving again.
It sounds like a whine but I am very sure it isn't. For someone who has been through an accumulation of four glorious years of LDR, I don't think this is about me being needy or whiney. I recognise my needs and am very coherent about putting it across to myself or Tex.
"Recognising that you are weak, is also a sign of courage and strength."
I've been keeping myself meaningfully occupied while Tex is away. While it's been enriching on the social front and family front, marriage-wise it has been wonderful and challenging nonetheless. No, don't get me wrong. It's been awesome (I can't even remember the last time we fought) and we miss each other tremendously. Both of us just look forward to spending some real time together with each other. Even taking a bus ride together sounds like a luxury to me, you can't imagine. But there were just days when I would simply simply wish that I could just look at him face-to-face and not say a thing and bask in the lovely ambience where there is no distance to speak of.
How has these months treated us? I can't really speak for him but I no longer feel the need to be sticky to him anymore, haha. It warms my heart when a person like him, someone so nomadic and free-hearted, signs his name on the dotted line, to me! To a person like me! It's like caging a bird in and he is willing to do it! This thought keeps me going and quite the other way round, I've been leeching on the strength of this thought and been calling him lesser. I just don't feel the need to 'rein' someone in by constantly calling and in turn, Tex has been calling me a lot more. Maybe he feels old and finally needs some stability in his life? Hahaha. Seeing his daily messages is sufficient for me to know he is doing well there and I will try my best to focus on my career and my life here to gel with his in future.
It's been tough and will be tough(er) ahead but while I have my own needs to fulfil, I maintain it is important to respect each other's life priorities, even if it's your own spouse.
Remember, you are an individual first, then a half of a couple.

Update: Solemnisation Details
Updated my previous post regarding my choice of wedding favours! Totally forgot about it!
Teeheehee. Aligned it in the same post because I am anal like that.

嘴硬心軟
I was trying to be a keyboard warrior at work when a memory suddenly came to my mind.
Sidetrack: I refer a memory as 'a memory', just like how Dumbledore pulls segments of his memories out of his mind to show Harry. I'm pulling mine out now.
When we backpacked Europe last year, I thought I packed as light as I could already, knowing that we were going to carry a backpack each for the rest of the trip. So I already repeated some of my clothes two times. Apparently not enough.
At the airport check-in, Tex placed his bag on the counter weigh and it showed 9kg. Check-in staff 'approves' the bag and tumbling on the conveyor belt, the bag went.
I placed mine and it showed... 14kg.
Tex: What the hell did you pack in there?!
Me: Errrr, clothes?
Tex: Why you never pack lighter?
Me: I already did! *mumble mumble*
At Helsinki Vantaa airport collecting our bags, I heaved my bag onto my shoulder and 'aaaah!' immediately. Super filled with regret that I didn't pack lighter. Tex eyeballed me and continued walking. I followed..
Me: *pant*
Tex: See la, never pack lighter.
Me: Hanna hanna!
Then he stopped in his tracks, took his bag off his shoulders, passed me his bag, peeled my bag off my shoulders, and strapped it on himself for the rest of the trip for the next ten days.
:D I have the best travel partner EVER.
