Loysel's Toy Cafe

Location wise, I really like it because;

1) It's near my house; within 10 mins of driving
2) Parking would be free, the surroundings are pretty deserted
3) Exactly because the surroundings are pretty deserted, you can enjoy a quiet breakfast here.

On my two separate occasions here, the crowds were wonderful, to say the least. Despite having kids running around, it just didn't seem that big a deal or that they were making too much noise. I credit that to the open-aired surroundings that made everything seem so much more relaxed and less confined.

Decal-like artwork on the exterior of the cafe facade

The place is really small though, housing no more than 50 patrons in and out.

One half of the cafe

Huge-ass coffee grinder. For show? Not sure.

A sister cafe by Papa Palheta, let's talk coffee first. I don't know much about aromas and tastes and strengths and award-winning or whatnots. I know that I like their coffee very much. It's fragrant, it's strong and it has left me wanting for more. Tex thinks I'm more of a sugar-lover than a coffee addict since I particularly enjoy Aik Cheong's 3-in-1 white coffeemix, but whatever. I like it means I like it, right?

You don't need to be an expert to enjoy food.

Cafe Latte

Oh by the way, the menu is a simple two-pager held back to back by a piece of cardboard and two pieces of blue rubberbands.

The first time we were there at about 11.30am, most of the breakfast sets were sold out already. I gathered that if you want to try their brunch menu, be there when they open at 9am. Otherwise, you can check out their sandwiches too - like what I did. I 'upgraded' my Pork Sandwich to a croissant at a cost of an additional $2.50 - a choice I never regretted (more on that later). What was surprising was that the sandwich came with a handful of tapioca chips! Awesome!

Yes the mustard do look like birds' droppings and a tad too sour for me, but overall, I ♥ it! Generous slabs of ham slices and the buttery croissants were more than enough for me.

Pork Sandwich - Ham, cheese, crisp slices of green apple with wholegrain mustard

We brought Tex's dad along the second time we went and ordered something really crazy for him - a Ristretto. Frankly, I think we ordered that because we secretly want to know what it is but didn't want it for ourselves, just in case it turns out bad. HOHO.

Ristretto

What a.. mouthful. That should keep him awake for the rest of the day, I hope. =E

Tex particularly enjoyed the House Muesli. In fact, he had it the both times we were there!

Iced Cafe Latte this time round

And kindly allow me to introduce one of the best croissants I've ever came across ..

Almond Croissant!!!!

This is da bomb. DA BOMB. I ♥♥♥ it. Flaky and chewy all rolled into one. Do not give the butter croissants a miss too. They are equally fantastic.

Butter Croissant

And I had their breakfast, Scrambled Eggs on Toast with bacon. This was just meh. Not worth trying.

Scrambled Eggs on Toast

What I do not like - their operating hours. Apparently they are open till only 6pm, this makes it a lil' annoying for Tex and I who normally meet for coffee only after dinner and we refuse to go to Starbucks or anywhere alike.

But just for the coffees, you can definitely see me returning on days that I do not have to work or in a crowd-avoiding mood during weekdays. =)

Family Times

For those who don't know, I ♥ spending time with my parents. Their recent trip to Penang last week further concreted my acknowledgement of the fact that I do hate returning home to an empty house. Yeah, the availability of the car was one thing and the lack of laundry done was another, I do appreciate having them around keeping me company and talking cock before I go to bed.

And to pay for dinners.

Okay that aside, if one of my favourite past times is to go out for meals with them, then one of theirs' would be to bring the little bundle of joy, well not so little anymore, out to markets or fast food restaurants for breakfast. I even overheard them discussing to buy a Smurf toy for her!

Dad: 你看,Xylia 去拿别人的Smurf 玩具.
Mum: Har..
Dad:我看我还是去买一个给她啦,plastic的.
Mum: 哪里有女孩子喜欢plastic的玩具?!
Dad:Barbie doll 不是plastic meh?!
Mum: ...
*The above conversation was carried out in Teochew, play it in your head.

We went to the McDonald's at Ridout Tea Garden (where my parents used to bring me and my sister to). Comparing with what I remembered it to be, the pond is now cleaner and I swear there are a lot more tortoises as compared to the past.

Walking bridge all done up and pond cleaned up

Nan Li's & Amanda's Wedding

We attended their wedding solemnisation and lunch yesterday, held at Amara Sanctuary Resort Sentosa. I acted clever and I thought I could save on the Sentosa gantry fee by flashing my supplier pass for RWS. Turns out that a flash wasn't enough, they needed my boobs as well.

Just kidding.

I'm still not quite sure why I had to pay when I didn't have to on weekdays. Oh well, I was also slightly guilty as I wasn't there for 'official duties' anyway so it's a minus $7 on my cashcard. Money sucked faster that I can pee.

Solemnisation was held at the Glass Pavilion, with full-height, well, as the name suggested, glass panels. Love the natural daylight shining in.

The charming groom and the lovely bride
I shall not go into detail of the groom's background, though I do sympathise greatly with what he had to go through before attaining such heavenly bliss. Am truly happy for him!

Waiting for food. FOOD.

That's us. As if we weren't 'pink' enough..

With Yan Ting, the emcee of the day!

Him looking like he never bared his teeth his whole life before

And of course, 'without him, I wouldn't be here'..

'And without them, he wouldn't be here..'

Last minute dress bought at TheVelvetDolls because I had to match Tex's pink shirt. Who says girls are annoying again?

Clutch from Love, Bonito and my ever-trusty-can't-go-wrong-with-it nude suede heels from Nine West

♥ his dimples.

=)

I leave you with a big ass head-shot of us.
That took me quite a while to upload but I must say the entire interface is soooo much simpler to mishandle, manhandle I mean. Hur.

Till the next!

Too Long

Alright. Just logging in (or is it 'login-ing'?) here seems to be a painful task and I struggle to remember my password. For your info, I almost used the same password for every online account I have, alternating between a Capital somewhere in the combination, or not. However, that itself could have possibly a grand total of 78683468 combinations. Go figure your combinations and permutations. *flips through A-math textbook feverishly*

I kid. I failed A-math 'cos I finished the paper at 8.30am when it started at 8am.

But anyway, the last photo that has graced the cover of this blog seems to be eons ago and with my not-so-new iPhone, I've been so caught up with Instagr.am and totally neglected this space. Not that I'm sorry, not that anyone's been reading. I like talking to myself sometimes..

Blogger's new interface is awesome! Am I slow? The textbox's big and spacious but wait till I upload some photos. That's when the bitches appear, right?

Speaking of which, I really need to change my domain name AND template. The blog template still says that I am 20, which is nice in a nice way, but bad in a bad way. =/ By the way, did you know that I used to use Kakashi as a cover photo in this blog header? Hur. I still like the rolling marquee in a certain way, don't you? Hee.

Aight, let me go explore and I'll be back.

Sometimes I just wanna cry out loud where/when nobody will judge me because it feels so fucking good.

What Does It Mean To Be With Another Person?

What Does It Mean To Be With Another Person?

To be there for him or to be there to help him?
To hear him or to listen to him?
To love him or to love him unconditionally?
To spend time with him or to spend time with him only when he wants you around?
To let him enter your life or to let yourself enter his?
To share things or to share only happy things?
To go through times together or to go through thick and thin times together?
To do things with him or to do things for him?
To give or to receive?
To stop suffering or to start being happy?

What does it really mean?

我不怕岁月无情的折磨,一生爱你不回头
只怕那世界笑我太执着,只有你懂我的梦
我想对你说,我深情依旧
只因你会记得我
愿把承诺当结果,我在默默为爱情守候。

I should recognise the fact that this isn't about me anymore. I feel a sense of strong urge to leave this place, immediately without anyone. Not a single one who cares.

You have been awesome and awful at the same time. How is that even possible? I stretched myself to limits that I have never ever visited in my whole life and it still isn't enough. I am on the brink of falling over and losing myself to someone/something that I don't recognise and yet this isn't about me.

Never mind if I am incoherent because this is a downright mess right from the start.

For that ONE NIGHT that I was being myself and did not have to care about anything/anyone's feelings. Fuck you all everything.
