Cold Summer

Cold Summer

Reason why I'm liking Perth bit by bit.

Anyway, it's fucking cold at night over here. And I thought it was summer?! Shit, I've only got shorts, dresses and bikinis.

Would it be weird to wear a beanie, a wool jacket, gloves and boots around in summer? Yes?

We're off to Margaret River and Dunsborough tomorrow! Yay! Can't wait to visit the ice cream factory! Byebye!

Greetings From Perth!

Greetings From Perth!

Hullo! Flying alone was so boring. I had two seats to myself and sprawled on them, literally. I watched the second half of Sex and The City and also the second half (as well) of Journey to the Center of the Earth. Ask Qantas Inflight Entertainment (they call themselves the best in the world, according to the magazine I read onboard) why only the second halves.

It's my first night in Perth and I have no idea why I'm not exactly excited! When the plane was touching down, I looked out the window and realised that everywhere is so.. flat! I mean, no high-rise buildings except in the city! Now I realise I am a city girl. I feel so damn weird seeing an ang moh as a janitor.

The sky has no clouds.

The sun sets at 7.30pm. It's an hour faster than Singapore.

OTS is now lying on his bed revising his notes for the upcoming paper on Friday, eating Starburst Babies. I am quite surprised that the supermarket sells many kinds of greens that I have never ever seen in my life. And for the first time, I ate homecooked steak. Thank you OTS.

I am so gonna buy every flavour of potato chips back!

Till then!

27th September 2008: Celebrating Hong Jun's Birthday

Was supposed to go bowling but I was so late I totally missed it. We then walked around in Marina Square before deciding to catch a movie -- Vicky Cristina Barcelona, which TOTALLY SUCKED, I'm telling you. It was not just bad -- it was horrendous.

For dinner, instead of the flashy western cuisines that we always go to for birthdays, we opted for simple Chinese fare at Crystal Jade as most of us felt like eating something soupy!

Oh oh this 椒盐豆腐 is so delicious!

The guys tucking in!

The two lovebirds looking at each other! Oh that's Ming Yu and Hong Jun anyway! Hurhur.

Okay, that's all I have! I'll try to upload more okay?

My Internet's Being A Bitch

My Internet's Being A Bitch

I wonder if it has anything to do with the rain tonight, but my Internet connection sucks. Not that serious, just that it isn't as exhilarating surfing the net, especially when my laptop has just been given a new boost of power -- 2.5GB DDR2 RAM. For those who did not study Computing Information Processing module, RAM stands for Random Access Memory.

I have failed to be a supporting Queen. The King has been extremely fiery these few days. If only I studied psychology as well -- I would know exactly how to pacify/ignore him. Haha.

Have been trying to draft up my CV -- a promise I made to the King in an attempt to secure any job that comes. Note: any job, not a job. It's an uphill task, I tell you. I realised I have zilch achievements worth mentioning! The last award I received was... a bursary in Primary 5? Sighs.

My Sims characters are amazing! They can constantly clog up toilet bowls. Instead of running to the toilet bowls, they rather stand there, clutch their stomachs and wave their hands madly at me. I got so tired cleaning the toilet bowls so I deleted the old and dirty ones and replaced them with brand new ones. And they can still wonder -- where did it go? I've changed them, you idiots!

Anyway Hoola has given birth to a pair of twin boys! I've named them Dickeradoo and Dickeradee. On an average basis, in an hour, the twins can become toddlers. At my rate of playing, in two days' time they would become teenagers already. By the time I reach Perth, I can send them to university. Constantine (their father) has $3,000,000 so they don't have to work. I am contemplating whether to build another bowling lane indoors or outdoors. Hmmm, maybe two elevators in the house?

You see why I like The Sims 2 -- I can play God. A fucking rich God.

The Queen Gets Overthrown By The King

The Queen Gets Overthrown By The King

When I was having exams, OTS would call me 'The Queen' because I would get very frustrated and find every little thing irritable. That sounds like a PMS syndrome, only that it went on for weeks prior to my exams and only ended punctually when the invigilators said 'Time's up!" for my last paper.

Yesterday, after my paper, immediately I texted him -- "I have officially ended my reign as The Queen."

For the past few weeks, he was exceptionally patient, endured shit from me, called me whenever I asked him to, delayed talking to him, whined about my studies and rambled on terms he couldn't understand.

Right, right. He is very very nice. And this, I have to reciprocate. Because it's his turn now. Welcome to Hell, Melvina Koh. The new king is going to be damn anal and vengeful for all the shit he has endured from you.

Try me. Hur.

Anyway, I painted my toenails bright Barbie Pink. I told OTS that, and he totally disregarded it like he didn't hear what I said. See?! This is the start, Melvina. Get used to it.

Gonna wait for The King's call now. Hehe.

Update: In a feeble attempt to empty my recycle bin on the desktop, I deleted the recycle bin away. An obvious omen that shows that one is sleepy and tired.

OTS: I'm done, baby. But give me some time to chill can?
Me: Oh good.
Me: You need some ice?
OTS: Sure.
OTS: Thanks for the chill baby.
OTS: Brrrrrr.

He actually bothered to entertain. HE ACTUALLY BOTHERED??!!!

Am I Sick?

Am I Sick?

I just came back from the part-time boyfriend's BBQ in his house. I realised that with the impending last paper, I really have no mood to talk, eat, or even sleep properly. Oh oh, the bacon with asparagus. Very salty.

Am I sick or what?

My Relationship With OTS

My Relationship With OTS

It seems only just yesterday when I was enjoying my favourite 卤肉 (stewed pork) from Serangoon Gardens and that was last Friday. So now, it's been a week. So fast!

Last night, during our daily routinal chatting on the phone, OTS and I agreed that it feels like we've been only together for six months although we are going to have our second anniversary soon. Hmm, he consents to the idea of me planning how to spend the day this time round! (Note: it's more of 'spending the day', not 'celebrating')

Sometimes I think I'm conservative. Many times I do not like to 'promise' things I might not be able to accomplish. Some examples are what I will do for my parents lah, where will I bring them to enjoy their golden age lah, or even telling my relatives about OTS and my expectations of my life lah. Hmm, I always thought time will tell us everything, so why promise? Besides, I'm afraid to make promises I could not afford to keep.

Almost two years. Almost two years since my last break-up too. Haha. That was one of the 转捩点 for me when I realised sometimes, nothing in this world is definite. An old cliche saying goes 'the only constant in this world, is change'. That is so right. I don't believe in 'forever'. I think it's plain bullshit. No one lives long enough to see for himself when the fuck is forever coming or ending. You can say that I am a skeptic, but I have every reason to be. I guess, that is the only way to protect myself sometimes.

And that is so difficult for OTS. I think he had a pretty hard time trying to break down my 'walls' and open up to him. I am not someone who readily share my opinions and think about my actions. I act, I forget. I used to make very casual remarks, be very careless with my words and not mean them at all. I was funny, but I was not credible. That was something I didn't like, but also didn't know how to change. And he did it for me.

He said, "It's so weird, you know. Everyday I come back to my room, I dial this number, and the person on the other end of the line just talks and talks. I feel like I'm calling some operator and she's acting my girlfriend. Like, you know, a service you pay for and there's this person who can act like your girlfriend and be your regular customer service officer. It feels like I'm calling a self-help line every night."

This is the kind of relationship we are leading. I'm pretty comfortable with it now, because when this started, we had no idea what it was going to be like. All we had was a couple of discouragements and many voices telling us that this might not work. 初生之犊不怕虎. A young calf will not be afraid of tigers because they had little or no experience. But hey, it turned out to be not as bad as we thought or expected, so baby, I thank you for not giving up.

Everytime we meet, it is like a giant dating thing. Hence so far, we have gone on... 5 huge dates? Haha, the sixth one is coming in November and people ask 'Wow you are flying over to meet your boyfriend ah?'. Normally I will answer 'No lah, just going over for a holiday and my parents are coming with me as well' because.. it's just weird to answer yes to meeting your boyfriend, flying thousands of miles across oceans. Yes, the conservative me is speaking.

But this time round, I must not be careless with my words! I think it's time to recognise the fact that:

Yes, I am flying over to meet my boyfriend for our sixth date because if not for him, I wouldn't even have chosen to go to Australia.

'There's no such thing as forever, only as long as possible.'

Tsk

If my whole life is just about my boyfriend, I think I would have been dumped quite a long time ago.

My boyfriend is pretty chauvinistic. Luckily I am quite womanistic too.

Yay! Half the pain is over, 2 more papers to go. I can't wait for my sister to come back from her honeymoon in Europe -- I need her luggage! =P

Looking at the Twitter updates, I realised it's been 99 days since I found out that my sister is pregnant. And now her stomach is like a honeydew under wraps. Hah!

Never Judge A Book By Its Cover

Never Judge A Book By Its Cover

Oh, so now I know my neighbour is a singer (with her band) at Ben & Jerry's Cathay and Hard Rock Cafe.

Weird. For many years, I always thought she was a maid.
