22th July: Petanque Competition

despite our my abysmal amount of trainings, my fellow groupmates, sze and zhixuan went to Toa Payoh Ulu Petanque Grounds, which is hidden, for the National Poly-JC Petanque Competition. gawd, for so many years that i lived near Toa Payoh, i did not, for once, notice that there are grounds for this lao ren game. donkey tagged along to "support" me, which i thought he'd jeer at me instead. but no, he appeared bored. -__-

we got in the quarter finals and was defeated by the same team that was in the qualifiers group as us. it was fun though! and you know what? out of about 7 teams ngee ann sent, only 2 teams got through the qualifiers rounds and we were one of them! the other team comprises of hong jun, clement and jayrius and both teams RARELY practised. is it luck or what? you decide.

to celebrate (okay not really "celebrate", but it's just an excuse, can?) the ending of the competition, donkey brought me to sakae! but he did something that made me really mad during dinner! but the sushi in the 6th frame (i don't know what it's called la!) made me happy!

20th July - 31st July: The Making of the Present

i think it's not necessary to have a reason to do something nice for your loved ones. i was bored of schoolwork, so amidst my tight schedule for project, i embarked on a journey to The Making of the Present.

firstly, i chose pretty coloured paper before cutting them into strips and started folding at least 600+ stars. i took a few days to finish that. then, choose a decent shoe box to keep the stars.

i bought his favourite shirt as a proper present then fold it up neatly!

start to wrap the box! the theme for this present was yellow and brown so i bought royal yellow paper to don on for the box then you put in the folded shirt into the box! fits nicely and snugly!

slip the final message paper into the shirt! i worked backwards so this is actually Step 5 (the final Step) before i go on to Step 4 etc!

so start throwing in the towels stars i mean, to fully cover and camo the shirt!

i wrote a short letter (nothing sweetnothings okay!) and slipped a message paper that's Step 4 into the envelope and put it strategically into the gift box!

cover up the envelope with stars again until it is fully camo-ed! and because i suck at art, i cheated! print out a heart shape on white paper and uhu-glue it with stars in rainbow colours! then fill the heart shape with more stars in the core! make sure all stars are uhu-glued properly with none of them dropping off!

fold the edges of the heart shaped white paper and place it onto the stars in the box and stick the message paper Step 3 onto the paper. make sure the box can slide in and out of the cover freely! meaning, no star will get crushed/drop off in your haste to shut the box!

now it's time to decorate the box itself! and because, for the 2nd time, my art suck, i cheated AGAIN! print out the words "nelly belly" on white paper (for testing) before printing it on my favourite nicey brown checkered paper! cut the alphabets out and paste them on the outer box in sequence!

it's time for Step 2 message paper! put in on top of the outer box, before wrapping the whole box in brown crepe paper!

after the box is wrapped, pull out a cream coloured satin ribbon and tie it around the box! loop a pretty bow and we're almost done!

select a few stars to stick in front and uhu-glue it. tidy up the bow!

cut the edges of the ribbon to make sure it doesn't fray and prepare message paper Step 1!

stick Step 1 on the crepe paper and TADAH!!! the present is completed! =D donkey, you better be happy! =)

**and because i was partly procrastinating, the whole making took me approximately 2 weeks! it could have been faster! boo.

29th July: Raffles Marketplace & Joshie's belated birthday dinner

the new Raffles Marketplace is awesome and i love it because new shops are springing up! Billabong, Birkenstock, Crumpler and the first Animal outlet in Singapore hits town! apart from apparel shoppies, there are new munchies shops too! i can't wait to try all the food outlets! YUMMY!!!

we're dead tired walking to and fro looking for joshie's pressie and we finally settled on a brown animal shirt! nicey! glad that he liked it! =) so we thought we'll just take a rest and in the end we were sitting there for at least half an hour!

it's ah black's birthday on the 28th and his parents were kind enough to treat us to cze char dinner! I LOVE CZE CHAR DINNERS! the food is always steaming hot and yummy and value for money, unlike those expensive restaurants!

after dinner we went to plmc to stone for awhile and if i remember correctly, there was a movie screening at the time which was starred Beyonce Knowles. anyway, there's a movie, there's air-con, there's seats and people to look at, so why not?

over to grapevine after that and we had these! i had a hot mocha latte and that's in the third frame! the oreo frappe in the first frame was josh's and it tasted great! we had snacks and i forgot what leo's dessert in the fourth frame was called. something funk though. i think it was "something something in heaven".

1st August: The Filming

we needed to do up a TVC (for those who don't know, TV Commercial) for our IP (for those who don't know again, Integrated Presentation), hence we've churned out a storyboard.

basically we needed kids to star in the advertisement, as well as a hysterical mother. so the first person i thought of was TANG RU AI COMMA ANTHEA.

there. she looked like a perfect mother, didn't she? oh we filmed in donkey's house coz we needed his cousins, Joshua (5 years old) and Charmaine (3 years old) and the place was somehow big enough for filming. zhixuan brought her cousins too! total number of kids = 6! can you imagine the chaos?! they were running around so much that we were so tired. but it was fun! haha!

** when we were in school, ready to set off to donkey's house for filming, we realised that the car boot couldn't be opened! we tried for another 15 minutes before deciding to attempt to open it at donkey's house again. who knows when we reached there, the boot still refused to budge. i was so frustrated and pissed off coz my whole bag, sze's laptop and file were inside there. thankfully i had my wallet and phone with me.

donkey's uncle then suggested that we drive over to the pretrol kiosk to see if they can try to open it. so there we went but the car mechanics said that we needed the master key (which i did not have it with me, it was with my dad) to open the boot, and pull the lever up again. he said someone must have accidentally pushed the lever down and that was what that caused the boot to be locked. and he also mentioned that if even the master key could not open the boot, the car has to be sent back to the agent! OMG OMG OMG.

so i drove donkey's uncle back to his house again, before calling my dad while waiting for donkey to have a change of clothes coz he was still in his army uniform. the thing is my dad was out having dinner and i thought i could drive over to the place where he was having dinner but alas! he did not bring the master key with him! so we agreed to meet back home.

i drove home again and saw my dad waiting for me. luckily he wasn't angry or anything. so he whipped out his master key and slotted into the key slot. LO AND BEHOLD! the boot cover sprung up! i could have gave out a cry of relief. but i did not la, so bo liao. then my dad taught me that the lever must always be pushed up so that the boot will not be stuck.

so i drove back to donkey's house happily (i even had to pump petrol coz i was going here and there, sighs, what a waste of money) and we could only start filming at 8.30pm because the digi cam was stuck in my boot as well. -___-

2nd August: Painting Works

i woke up to see something shocking.

what is this four-legged thingy lurking outside my window! can it be spiderman? no, i don't remember spiderman having a trolley-like thing for a tummy.

oh. it's somebangraone trying to paint the exterior walls of my house. see how good it is to be in a PAP constituency? you get newly painted walls. =)

hey dudes. you guys better do a good job.

oh shit. he noticed me?

okay this is like so totally outta point.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

7th August: My New Birkies

they have finally arrived!

silver is the pair i helped mavis's friend to buy, and my own pair is the other one! gosh i love it so much.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

8th August: All My Pressies!

from this moment, i take back all the swearings that i used on mavis okay! why? BECAUSE SHE BOUGHT ME SO MANY PRESENTS FROM PERTH! woohoo! definitely a wonderful birthday although i spent the entire 9th August in school doing project! so who said i make a big fuss out of my birthday?!

sze bought me this preedee nail glitter!

donkey drew on the blanket! gosh! but why is it that most of the drawings are HIS favourite characters instead?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

10th August: The Intergrated Presentation

IP is finally over and all of us headed to Sakae Sushi at Marina Square to have a binge! buffet only starts at 3pm so we endured and waited till 3pm. the staff there are so inflexible, i tell you. they couldn't let us go in at 2.45pm even though it was only 15 minutes to 3pm. we were so bored of walking around marina square.

and when we can finally go in, we were so hungry that we started to feel abit full. it's true, we couldn't eat alot but the food tasted great coz i think we were soooooo hungry!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

11th August: Fireworks at Marina Bay by New Caledonia!

we were standing at the wrong place and when the first shot of fireworks came out, it was blocked strategically by the crown of the blardy coconut tree that was in front of us. many people gave a cry of despair when they saw the fireworks being blocked.

so we were at Raffles Place taxi stand when we decided to book a cab because of the horrendously long queue that we see. immediately i dialed SMRT's white cabs (because i thought lesser people would dial SMRT instead) and i kinda regretted abit when they told me that booking fee would be FOUR BUCKS on top of TOWN AREA CHARGE which would actually equate to FIVE HEFTY BUCKS.

then a golden cute limo came and it had the plate number that i was told by the operator. i couldn't believe i got a limo so i stood there, waiting for the cabby to call. he flicked out his phone and dialled some numbers. hey presto! my phone is ringing! so this cab is mine then?!

loads of leg space, air con behind, and even reading lights. although the starting fare was $2.80 on top the extra charges, i was rather happy and excited because i've never been on a limo cab before! okay, call me suaku if you want! i had an urge to wave BYEBYE at all the people at the taxi stand.

12th August: Fireworks by France

wonderful saturday with no projects despite exams are nearing. treated ourselves to awesome Venezia ice cream. donkey had lemon and strawberry while i had green tea with coconut. YUMMY!

we then had a late lunch (counted as dinner) at Vila'ge where everything is basically about the same as Marche. the food, the settings, the ambience, the system. except UOB card members now have privileges! besides, for every $15 spent, you get a fere scoop of Movenpick ice cream! ice cream again! i love ice creams! this time round, it's mixed nuts! YUMMY!

the restaurant is cheesy! in case you guys can't see, it says:

we sell food and we sell drinks
we pay rent and we pay salaries

like you, we pay our taxes too!!!
so please cooperate with us and refrain from bringing your own food and drinks

thank you

donkey is actually smiling at the smiley face. or maybe trying to smile like the smiley face. ha-ha!

and because i got a lousy place to watch fireworks the day before, i was determined to get front row seats for saturday's show which is by Team France! i got there at 6pm and the whole sky is above me because i got uber GOOD SEATS! no pushing and shoving with aunties and smelly people! hah!

so we sat there for 3 hours straight. it's inevitable that we get abit bored you see...

this time round, no coconut trees. can i just say that the wait and the butt-ache was worth it?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

14th August: Something Extra

i did my nails myself!

using the glitter that sze gave me!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

okay i'm finally done with the post. exams are near and i've yet to start studying. yawns. i've made up my mind to go swimming everyday for 3 weeks after exams! i hope everyday WILL BE a sunny day!

i've watched ghost game already! it's kinda scary and i think about it at night! haha! scare myself only! BOO.

we're supposed to go baking at nicole's house after exams coz she has an OVEN at home and she don't use it! don't let it go to waste! LOL.

can't wait can't wait. i've already thought of what to do after exams yet i'm still not studying. sian.

OH! dad agreed to bring me go eat haagen dazs fondue! YUMMY! plus i requested for CZE CHAR birthday dinner! rawks my sawks!
